Ellen Aldrich, RYT-500, C-IYAT Yoga Therapist, has been involved in yoga as a practitioner, teacher and therapist for 15 years. She enjoys teaching different styles of yoga to different populations combining, asana, pranayama, meditation and mantra. Ellen finds fulfillment and joy serving others by teaching them how to create a sense of well-being and achieve their best health physically, emotionally, and spiritually through a yoga practice.

For the past two years, Ellen has worked as a yoga therapist with the Department of Behavior Science at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston delivering yoga therapy to cancer patients and their family caregivers undergoing treatment as part of several research studies. She continues to find time for a small private practice as well.

Ellen has additional certifications in Functional Yoga Therapy, Trauma Informed Yoga Therapy, Overcoming Anxiety, Restorative Yoga, and Yoga for Arthritis, Cancer, Heart Disease, Osteoporosis, Pelvic Floor, and Brain Longevity Therapy through the Alzheimer’s Research and Prevention Foundation.

Yoga Shorts: Three 30 minutes sessions to learn, practice and discuss yoga

  1. Learn, discuss and practice the Kirtan Kriya Meditation. This meditation has been proven to improve blood flow to the brain along with all the other positive effects from meditation, such as improving memory, immunity, easing anxiety and depression just to name a few. The results are a clearing of the mind.
  2. Learn how to activate your intention. This practice uses breath and guided meditation to help you actualize your heart’s desire or intention.
  3. Learn, discuss and practice Pavanmuktasana or the Joint Freeing Series. This restorative practice is done seated and uses breath and range of motion to open all the joints moving energy and oxygen to all the joints creating ease.

Releasing Tension From Those Tight Spots
Allowing the breath to guide your movements is essential in the practice of yoga. Adding intention to release tension and tightness improves the process. You will use asana and breath to promote openness and length to the body improving alignment and function. Areas of focus will be head and neck, shoulders, and hips.

Creating Peace Within
A gentle heart centered flow practice will awaken the body, mind and emotions and allow you to move into the wisdom and peace within. The practice will conclude with a Rose Quartz guided meditation.
