RETREAT ADDRESS

Ancient Yoga Center
400 Barsana Avenue, Austin Texas 78737

This perfect retreat weekend starts off by arriving at the ashram and being greeted by our friendly and welcoming event staff. You will be given a printed schedule of the weekend’s activities and shown to your guest room if staying onsite.

There is something for everyone at the Texas Yoga Retreat. The retreat is suitable for all levels: beginner, intermediate, and advanced/teacher/ aspiring teachers. Enjoy gentle, restorative classes, meditation, breathwork, and chanting, or more challenging classes that push you to your edges. Some practices are the delicate balance between. Do as much or as little as you would like; your time is your own and no class, meal, or activity is mandatory.

No need to sign up in advance for classes, just show up. Some classes do tend to get crowded, so arrive a little early to secure your spot.

Besides learning and practicing yoga and meditation and more, take time to walk the beautiful grounds (230 acres), enjoy delicious chef-prepared meals, make new friends, visit the temple (everyone is welcome for meditation and kirtan), and the shrines and fountains scattered throughout the property. We also provide additional for-fee services such as massages, henna tattoos and vendors.

Continuing Education Units (CEU’s): At the Texas Yoga Retreat, we prioritize not just the practice of yoga, but also the ongoing growth and development of our teachers. That’s why all classes offered at our retreat count towards Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Credits (CEUs). Whether you’re delving into the intricacies of alignment, exploring the philosophy of yoga, or deepening your meditation practice, every session contributes to your professional advancement.

To ensure you receive proper credit for your participation, teachers attending the retreat must keep a detailed log of the presenters and classes they attend (including hours). This log will be crucial when submitting your application for CEUs through the Yoga Alliance webpage. We believe in supporting our teachers every step of the way on their journey of lifelong learning and enrichment.

In addition, we are excited to share that the International Association of Yoga Therapists (IAYT) is sponsoring our event again this year, as it has for over a decade. Attendees have the opportunity to participate in classes recognized by IAYT for their educational value and relevance to yoga therapy, led by pre-approved IAYT presenters. A number of class hours (clearly marked on the schedule) will qualify for CEUs for members of the International Association of Yoga Therapists.

Children – Bringing Children to the Retreat: In our ongoing commitment to provide an exceptional experience for all our guests, and to create a serene and adult-friendly environment that allows our guests to relax and unwind in a tranquil setting, we have set our minimum age for attendance at 16 years (assuming they are mature, able to follow instructions, and motivated to attend).

Please know that this measure is not intended to be exclusive or discriminatory towards families with children. Rather, it is a strategic approach to cater specifically to the preferences of our adult clientele. By excluding children under the age of 16, we aim to foster an ambiance that promotes relaxation, tranquility, and a peaceful atmosphere throughout our premises.

We apologize for any inconvenience this policy may cause to families with younger children. Thank you for your understanding and support as we work towards maintaining a consistent and exceptional experience for all our valued guests.

Health and Safety:It is our high level goal each year to keep everyone safe and healthy at the retreat. If you have any of the symptoms of covid or flu, even remotely, stay home. If you are already at the ashram, isolate in place and let someone at Registration know. Let’s all do our part to keep everyone in our community healthy by following common sense practices. Wash hands and use hand sanitizer frequently. Cover all coughs and sneezes (into elbow or Kleenex). We suggest that each participant bring an in date Covid testing kit with 2 unused tests.
